West Ham Have Had a Loan Offer For Harry Maguire Rejected by Manchester United

West Ham United had their loan move rejected by Manchester United for their former captain, Harry Maguire.

Manchester United maintain they would not put their player out, but they are ready to listen to any offer from any team.

It was reported that West Ham United are exploring a move for the defender after selling Declan Rice for a fee of £105 million to Arsenal.

Now the Hammers have been dealt a blow after Manchester United rejected their loan offer for the former skipper.

The player’s wages are one of the reasons why West Ham don’t seem ready to sign him on a permanent deal.

Maguire announced on July 16, 2023, that he would be stripped of his captaincy by manager Erik Ten Hag and be replaced with Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

West Ham United, on the other hand, are due to announce another captain after Declan Rice joined Arsenal.

West Ham United manager David Moyes said, “It’s only just happened. Rice left a day or so ago, so we’ve got time to think about it. It will be decided by myself.

‘I think a captain is hugely important. I have had some great boys captain my teams over the years.

‘So we will look closely to see what is the right choice, and we have a bit of time before the season starts and [when] we need to make a decision on that.

‘Players come and go from all clubs, not just our club. I have had it before in the past as well.’
