Manchester United are currently working behind the scenes to negotiate with Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as one of the three options after securing Andre Onana.
Reports in Japan claim Manchester United are interested in signing the 20-year-old goalkeeper from Urawa Reds Diamond, having tracked his progress for a couple of years.
Although they haven’t opened talks with the Urawa Reds, they are more focused on moving Andre Onana to Manchester United.
Manchester United will reportedly need to pay £5 million, a record fee that will surpass the one Celtic paid to sign Kyogo Furuhashi in 2021.
There is a lot of uncertainty about the future of Dean Henderson, and there are reports that he may be moving to the Saudi Arabia Pro League.
Tom Heaton started his first team match against Leeds United in the pre-season, but he has been offered a first steam action by newly promoted sides Luton Town and Everton.
Manchester United are also interested in bringing Dinamo Zagreb’s Dominik Livakovic, who was extremely fantastic in the previous FIFA World Cup for Croatia.
The club has also expressed interest in Feyenoord star Justin Bijlow, although given his profile at the Dutch champions, it would be assumed he would be considered as an alternative to Onana rather than a backup.
Zion Suzuki Father
The father of Zion Suzuki is a native of Ghana. His identity is unknown to the general public, however he was reportedly a Ghanaian professional player in the past.
Suzuki has discussed how his father’s passion for the game encouraged him to pursue a career as a goalie.
I grew up watching my father play football because he was a professional in Ghana, the man claimed. He served as my source of motivation for taking up football.
Not just Suzuki’s father but other people have impacted his football career. His mother, who is Japanese as well, has been one of his biggest supporters. Suzuki claims that both on and off the field, his parents have supported him at all times.
“My parents have always been my biggest supporters,” he declared. Throughout my career, they have been a huge support, and I am incredibly appreciative of them.
Suzuki has drawn inspiration from both sides of his heritage.
He considers his roots in Ghana and Japan to have enriched him and made him a more well-rounded person. I am proud of my Ghanaian and Japanese roots, he declared.
Suzuki is a budding football star in Japan, and he will undoubtedly accomplish great things in the years to come.
His mixed origins will undoubtedly continue to inspire him as he pursues his promising future as a superb goalie.
