Inigo Martinez joins Barcelona after Ilkay Gundogan Signing

Barcelona has announced the signing of Atletico Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez with an excellent video posted via the club’s social media account.

Barcelona announced the Spanish international’s addition with a social media reveal that focused on the shadow of a figure re-enacting Martinez’s goal celebration.

The fans were not able to get the true meaning of the message. The center back greeted the fans in his first statement.

The 32-year-old defender spent five years at Atletico Bilbao before moving to Barcelona. He becomes the second signing for Barcelona after the club signed Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City on a free transfer.

The Spaniard had been admired by Barcelona since he was at Real Sociedad before going on to win the Spanish Super Cup.

He has been a semi-regular player in Spain since making his debut under manager Vincente del Bosque in 2013.

In the previous tournament won by Spain, he was forced to sit out due to his calf injury. Martinez is capable of playing as a full back, and his technical ability caught the attention of Xavi Hernandez.

Barcelona conceded only 20 goals last season and kept 25 clean sheets.

With the addition of Martinez at the back and the good saving rate of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the team may be refer to as team of the season.
