Gylfi Sigurdsson has reportedly join Wayne Rooney DC United. The former Iceland International who is currently 33 years old left Everton in 2021-22 season and since then he has not played a single match.
Sigurdsson is due to join the club in Washington DC. The attacking midfielder and Wayne Rooney were teammates in 2017-18 season when they were both playing for Everton.
Sigurdsson who is currently a free agent was linked with a move to Galatasaray but the deal failed to materialize despite a £1.75 million agreement per year.
Last week, Sigurdsson was spotted in a rare picture with his wife on his Instagram page. They had both disable their account but Sigurdsson wife Alexandra Ivarsdottir who won the 2018 Miss Iceland posted a picture after reactivating her Instagram account.
The photo was captioned ‘La familia’ followed by a white heart and a globe emoji.
Wayne Rooney spent two seasons as a player at DC United in 2018 and 2019 before turning to a manager on July 2022 after resigning as Derby County manager.
DC United are presently ninth in the Eastern Conference of MLS, still within a shot of making the end-of-season play-offs.

Everton star Sigurdsson was detained for sending his babysitter, 15, inappropriate texts, which led to his detention.
Sigurdsson, who was detained by Merseyside police last week for sending sexually explicit texts to a minor, was really texting the family’s 15-year-old babysitter.
The young girl received multiple texts of a sexual nature from the player who was arrested by the police while his home was being searched, and she reportedly told her father on the advice of her friends.
The father then reported the incident to the police, evidently disgusted.
According to the babysitter’s pals, the girl got increasingly terrified as the texts increased in frequency and sexual content.
She had been watching their children for Mr. and Mrs. Sigurdsson for more than six months; Mrs. Sigurdsson was a former Miss Iceland.

Model Alexandra was born in Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavik on August 10, 1989.
She holds a psychology degree and is a trained natural cook.
Alexandra pursued a modeling career and was crowned Miss Iceland in 2008.
She competed for her nation in the 2008 Miss World competition and placed in the top 15.
In a decathlon competition where contestants for Miss World compete against one another in a variety of fitness tests and activities, she also took first place, she won Miss World Sports.
Móa&Ma, a retailer of children’s apparel, is run by Alexandra.
According to their website, she had “always been interested in fashion and design” and it was her “dream” to create the store.
Before getting married, they dated for nine years. In 2010, while Sigurdsson was playing for Reading, the couple became friends.
While on vacation in the Bahamas in July 2018, Sigurdsson proposed to the couple.
The majority of Sigurdsson’s career has been spent in the UK, with the exception of the two years he spent playing for Hoffenheim in Germany from 2010 to 2012.
The couple intends to relocate to the US in 2023 after the former Everton midfielder joins Wayne Rooney’s DC United.
