Didier Drogba has launched an attack on Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and the co-owner over how the club is being managed.
The former legend claimed he didn’t recognize his club again before the elimination in the Champions League.
Didier Drogba, who scored the last penalty in 2012 against Bayern Munich, made the claim after Chelsea lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League.
The legendary striker expressed his displeasure when he was on pundit duty with Canal+. Drogba claimed Chelsea were a different class under Roman Abramovich before he was booted out of the club.
However, he wants the club to go back to the principles and values of the Abramovich era. After the new era of Todd Boehly, a few individuals who ran the club at a successful level left.
Petr Cech, Bruce Bruk, and Marina Granovskaia left the club. However, Chelsea’s caretaker manager, Frank Lampard, lost four matches out of four and failed to respond to his former teammates’ claims.
Chelsea’s poor performances got attention. Boehly claimed the players should be embarrassed by their recent performance after the team lost to Brighton in the Premier League.
It was reported that Boehly entered the dressing room to discuss the situation with the players and the manager.
Going out of the Champions League means Chelsea will not qualify for European football next season, which is not a nice take for the fans.
The fans had already given up on the season, and they are looking ahead to the next one. The club has also failed to get the right managers. It was reported that Chelsea are looking forward to getting Mauricio Pochettino next season.
The club wants to get another manager who has not won a title in England and can’t manage the egos of big-name players in the French League.
