Femi Adesina, the Special Advisor to the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, had stated that the outgoing president had conducted one of the most free and fair elections in the history of the country.

The presidential election that gave rise to the continuity of the APC in government has been regarded as a good one.

According to him, a serious trepidation has been waved due to the political action of the president. ┬áHe admitted to some electoral irregularities but claimed the president is someone who doesn’t engage in fraudulent activity.

However, Femi Adesina thanked the aggrieved presidential candidate of the other political party for choosing peace over violence.

The PDP presidential candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and LP Peter Obi, had taken the option of going to court to retrieve their mandate before Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu became the President of the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari made use of this option of going to the Supreme Court three times in his political career before moving to the APC and eventually winning the 2015 presidential election.

The February 25, 2023, election produced governors in 28 states of the Federation and 993 state assembly lawmakers across 1,021 constituencies.

When you consider that the presidential and national assembly elections were done in 470 constituencies, it is one of the biggest elections that got a lot of congratulations from different world presidents.

The President claimed this when he was in Doha, Qatar, and got a lot of congratulations messages from different people who thought the election would be a tough one and all would let loose.

Femi Adesina claimed it is the first time he is not hearing news of vote buying and outcry across the country. Rigging may not be dead, but the country’s democracy is maturing under the APC.
