Pep Guardiola explained to the media why it will be very challenging for Manchester City to win the Champions League in the 2022–2023 season.

Since moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2016, the Spaniard has had unheard-of success, winning four Premier League championships, four League Cups, and the FA Cup.

In citing Real Madrid as the favourites to win the competition, he identified them as a serious threat to his Champions League achievement.

Guardiola also mentioned the passion with winning the champions League again. The Spanish manager’s most recent Champions League victory came in 2011 at Barcelona against Manchester United.

Since then Real Madrid had won five Champions League title with two different managers. Carlo Ancelloti won two and Zinedane Zidane won three Champions League on a role.

Guardiola has been successful at Manchester City, but he hasn’t won the Champions League. He came close against Chelsea in the 2020–21 season by a single goal, though.

Guardiola quipped that his goal for Manchester City is to win everything, not only the Champions League.

Guardiola dreams of winning the championship every season, but if he doesn’t, it is not a failure on his part.

Numerous star signings costing hundreds of millions of dollars have not been successful in securing the highly sought-after title.

Rodrygo’s two late goals from Real Madrid’s starlet last season ruined Guardiola’s ambition of ever winning the most coveted trophy, just as it appeared like Manchester City would play in the final.

Guardiola obviously has another chance to end the club’s European misery now.

City has secured their spot in the knockout stages of the most recent competition thanks to their 0-0 draw with FC Copenhagen on October 11, 2022.

With two games remaining, Real Madrid has qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout round.

For a while, it appeared as though Carlo Ancelotti’s team would be given a defeat by Shakhtar Donetsk, but Antonio Rudiger’s amazing strike in stoppage time saved a tie and a point for his team.

Even though Pep Guardiola frequently defeated Real Madrid, he thinks they are superior when it comes to winning the Champions League.
