Following a protracted month-long strike to force the government to grant their demands, the court of appeals has ordered ASUU to return to the classroom.
Adejumo Kabir, an investigative journalist, has lambasted the Union and advised them to put an end to their lawlessness and heed the court ruling.

Asuu Chairman Name
The president of ASUU at the moment is Professor Emmanuel Osodeke. He is a professor of soil science at the Federal University of Agriculture in Umudike, Abia State, and he is from that state.
Professor Emmanuel was elected on May 2021. Before he became the President, he served as a Vice President in the Previous tenure.
Causes Of Asuu Strike
Lack of federal funding for universities, a failure to raise staff salaries, and an inability to prevent payment from flowing from the federation’s accountant general are the main causes of the strike.
ASUU Demands From Federal Government
1. funding for public universities’ revitalization. In its agreements with the union in 2009 and 2013, the federal government committed to funding public institutions in six installments totaling N1.3 trillion beginning in 2013. Since 2013, only N200 billion has been distributed.
2. adoption of UTAS. ASUU wants the government to embrace its own UTAS and has fought against the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
Effect Of ASUU Strike On Students
Students have been at home since February, and it is currently affecting their intellect and the amount of time they are expected to spend in school.
Some of them had shown an interest in vocational training because of the strike; some had moved on with their lives and others had had to leave the country for further education.
