Enock Mwepu, a midfielder for Brighton, was forced to give up playing football after being diagnosed with a hereditary heart problem and becoming ill.
The 24-year-old was told by the doctor that if he keeps playing football, he will probably experience cardiac arrest, which could result in his demise.
After ending his career early, Mwepu said he still intends to play football in some way in a statement announcing his retirement.
The midfielder stated, “A little youngster from a township named Chambishi in Zambia has some news to offer. “He was unwavering in his will to pursue his dream of playing football at the top level, and with God’s grace, he accomplished his goal by making it to the Premier League.
George Lwandamina, the coach of the Zambian national team, spoke about the situation and described how some members of the national team organization reacted when Mwepu’s health was initially revealed during the previous international break.
